Within the scope of an intensive cooperation on the topic “Future of Work”, employees at the Fraunhofer IML and sociologists at the TU Dortmund have bundled current research results in a sociological working paper entitled “Conceptual Perspectives of Work in Digitized Logistics”.
At the invitation of the Center of Excellence Logistics and IT, researchers from the University of Poznan visited Dortmund at the end of November. The joint meeting once again promoted international exchange.

How people can communicate intuitively with automated transport vehicles was the subject of a recent study by the ”Human-Technology Interaction” research clan at the Center of Excellence Logistics and IT.
With the C3DLO, the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Technology ISST has developed a chat bot that allows information to be retrieved in large volumes of data in natural language dialogues, even if the user does not know the filing structures. The Center of Excellence Logistics and IT was responsible for implementing the prototype.
Smart technologies can be used in the picking areas at companies to help employees to pick different articles. The “Cognitive Ergonomy” research clan has carried out a field study and is still looking for companies for further investigations.
Research and development activities under the umbrella of the Center of Excellence Logistics and IT are currently generating new ideas and demonstrators that can form the nucleus for successful spin-offs. In cooperation with the Digital Hub Logistics, the Centre of Excellence encourages scientists to start a career as entrepreneurs.
