Research and development activities under the umbrella of the Center of Excellence Logistics and IT are currently generating new ideas and demonstrators that can form the nucleus for successful spin-offs. In cooperation with the Digital Hub Logistics, the Center of Excellence encourages scientists to start a career as entrepreneurs and to present their services and products on the market. “The Hub’s project managers are on board, especially with start-up ideas from our research clans, and support the researchers with innovation modules from their Digital Product Factory to help them implement their visions and bring products to market,” says Christoph Pott, Head of the Center of Excellence Logistics and IT, explaining the focus of the collaboration. The Center of Excellence also supports the hub’s Digital Logistics Award – a start-up competition for national and international start-ups which took place for the first time in 2017.
The Digital Hub Logistics was initiated by the digital association Bitkom and is part of the Digital Hub Initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) with a total of 12 hubs. A common umbrella brand (de:hub) and a common hub agency facilitate networking and the exchange of know-how. Start-ups and spin-offs from companies are accompanied by an “all-round carefree package” from the initial idea to market entry. This includes a creative and dynamic working environment, continuous support and a so-called Digital Product Factory with individual and demand-oriented modules.
