The Workstream Virtual Reality (VR) of the Research Clan Human-Technology-Interaction pursues the goal of collecting, analyzing and uniformly merging existing works with a focus on VR. This serves to bundle resources so that they can be developed more effectively together.
Despite the corona pandemic, this workstream deals intensively with Mixed Reality (XR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), which have become an integral part of the logistics industry. Participating institutions are the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML), the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering (ISST), the Chair of Materials Handling and Warehousing at the TU Dortmund University (FLW) and the Leibniz Institute for Work Research at the TU Dortmund University (IfADo).
In the context of this, especially the Serious Games, i.e. learning games, were developed, which demonstrably enable more efficient and motivating learning through playful but real-life components. At Fraunhofer IML these are already used as a standard method for training employees and optimizing logistic workflows. And with success: training in a forklift simulator, for example, made it easier for participants to obtain a forklift driving licence.
In a new image film, Christoph SchlĂĽter and his colleagues tell about the work and success of the workstream and the possibilities of using XR and VR in logistics:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvdiADK3onE
