The Center of Excellence Logistics and IT had the pleasure of welcoming SHAREHOUSE – the Warehouse Innovation Learning Lab (WILL) and the School of Management of Erasmus University Rotterdam at Fraunhofer IML. The visit started with presentations from both the Center of Excellence and the SHAREHOUSE, so that joint research focuses and cooperation opportunities could be found. A guided tour through the Fraunhofer IML followed, during which the research infrastructure of the Center of Excellence was presented.
The SHAREHOUSE is supposed to become THE storage laboratory in which young and old, education, suppliers of storage technology, industry and research will share, learn and innovate together. The ambitious initiative already has 25 cooperation and practical partners, including NWO – Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research and TKI DINALOG – Dutch Institute for Advanced Logistics. Due to the rapid development of technology, especially in the logistics sector, different ways of thinking, experimentation, social innovation, education and cooperation between business, politics, education and research are required. Living Labs and Learning Communities are perfect for solving logistics challenges. The best facilities, technologies, knowledge and people form the basis. Through the goals of SHAREHOUSE such as the establishment of regional learning communities and an international digital environment, together with the support of the innovation ecosystem of the Center of Excellence, we can overcome the most important challenges in the logistics sector in the areas of technology, organisation and people.
We thank the SHAREHOUSE for the visit and are looking forward to further cooperations.
