On 24 September, 25 international Post Docs visited our location as part of the “Postdoctoral Researcher‘s Networking Tour 2019” of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). In addition to the station in Dortmund, the PostDocs visited other industrial and research institutions in Aachen, OWL and Berlin.
After a brief introduction to the Center of Excellence Logistics and IT and a general classification of the various research facilities at the site by André Terharen, the colleagues from the Rhine-Ruhr Machine Learning Competence Centre (ML2R, https://www.ml2r.de/) took over. After an introduction by Dr. Stefan Michaelis, technical lectures followed by Dr. Nico Piatkowski, Sebastian Buschjäger and Amal Saadallah. This stimulated the participants to interesting discussions and pure exchange. After this followed a guided tour through the application hall of the innovation laboratory at the Fraunhofer IML by Ralf Neuhaus and through the research hall of the innovation laboratory at the FLW chair by Moritz Roidl. The visit ended with a joint lunch.
