At the Future Congress 2019, the Center of Excellence Logistics and IT was actively involved in the Digital Sandbox and the “Science and Practice Transfer” lecture session of the Fraunhofer Symposium. In addition to an information stand, a demonstrator, where the Center of Excellence participated, was shown.
Here, the Center of Excellence, in the person of André Terharen, created a virtual reality (VR) demonstrator for a cyber-physical production system (CPPS). This is actively researched at the Chair of Conveying and Warehousing (FLW) at Haci Bayhan in order to develop a concept for customized production in the context of Industry 4.0.
In order to present this complex system clearly, an interactive guided tour was provided for the visitors by means of Virtual Reality (VR). The virtual reality visualizes the concept within a factory. The virtual tour starts with the customer-specific order of the example product, in this case a drone. Then the user accompanies the production within the factory, through various workstations, such as assembly and picking, to finally end with the finished product. The visitors thus had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of cyber-physical production systems and to take on different roles through virtual reality and actively experience it. Through this, the visitors of the Digital Sandbox could gain an insight into the complex world of cyber-physical production systems and be part of these complex systems. We thank all visitors for their interest and active participation!
