Conclusion of the Winter School of Logistics 2024

Today marked the end of the Winter School for Logistics in Dortmund, which took place from December 2 to 6, 2024. The Graduate School of Logistics offered doctoral students from the fields of logistics, statistics, data science, economics, engineering and computer science an exciting and varied program. This year, the focus was on innovative machine learning methods, including low-code and no-code approaches as well as large-scale prediction and time series forecasting. Participants had the opportunity to receive practical input from the industry, particularly on topics such as ChatGPT and artificial intelligence in production. One highlight was the live case study, in which theory was put into practice: Working in interdisciplinary teams, the doctoral students developed solution concepts for real industrial challenges using specific company data. The High Performance Center for Logistics and IT was also actively involved and offered a hands-on workshop on the topic of procurement optimization with artificial intelligence – the AI-BOSS transfer project was involved. Participants were able to gain practical experience and deepen their knowledge. They were also given a brief insight into the performance center’s labs, including an exoskeleton trial. The exchange with scientists on site and among the doctoral students was a central component of the event and contributed to networking within the community. We would like to thank all participants and look forward to future events!
